WordPress 4.4 has arrived

WordPress 4.4 has arrived! This update to WordPress is named “Clifford” and has a new theme and a couple of new features. It was named after the great jazz trumpeter Clifford Brown.

The new theme is called Twenty Sixteen and is the default theme for WordPress 4.4. It is a fluid grid design with a flexible header and multiple color schemes.

The new features are responsive images and embedded posts. WordPress now supports responsive images and displays the appropriate image sizes on any device with any theme.

You can embed your posts on other WordPress sites now. Just drop your post URL into the editor and see an instant embed preview. In the instant preview your will see your title, excerpt and featured image if you have set one. WordPress now supports post embeds, and five new oEmbed providers: Cloudup, Reddit Comments, ReverbNation, Speaker Deck, and VideoPress.

For WordPress developers the REST API has been integrated into the core making it easy to build and extend RESTful APIs on top of WordPress.
