Google Changes Ranking Advice
HL News • June 19, 2013
In a historic move, Google has updated their Webmaster Help documentation on ranking. On May 27th they changed the text to read:
“In general, webmasters can improve the rank of their sites by increasing the number of high-quality sites that link to their pages.”
Before the change it had read “In general, webmasters can improve the rank of their sites by creating high-quality sites that users will want to use and share.”
So Google will be focusing more on content and at least a little less on the number and quality of links that go to your website. It doesn’t mean abandon your well thought out link building plan, but it does mean that more time and effort need to be invested in quality content for your website.
